Mizan is built around a simple principle: your worship, your data. This page explains exactly what the app stores, where it lives, and why.
Your prayer completion history, Hifz (memorization) progress, and Quran, Hadith, and Dua favourites are stored locally on your phone using on-device storage. Mizan does not upload this data to any server. If you delete the app, this data is gone unless you have used Backup & Restore to export it yourself.
To use Community (posts, likes, Circles), Mizan signs you in anonymously via Firebase Authentication — no name, email, or phone number is required. Posts you create (text and any photo you attach) are stored in Firebase Firestore and Firebase Storage so other users can see them. Anything you post there is visible to other Mizan users.
Mizan uses your device location (or a city you choose manually) only to calculate accurate prayer times and the Qibla direction for that location. Your coordinates are saved locally on your device so the app does not need to ask again every time it opens; they are not shared with other users.
The camera is used only to scan a Mizan QR code to connect with another user, and your photo library is used only if you choose to attach an image to a Community post or save/share a QR code. Mizan does not access your camera or photos at any other time.
Mizan uses Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics to understand which features are used and to catch crashes, tied to an anonymous device ID — never your name or contact details. This helps us fix bugs and improve the app; it is not used for advertising, and Mizan does not sell or share your data with third parties.
You can export or delete your local data at any time from Settings → Backup & Restore, and you can turn off notifications from Settings → Notifications. If you would like your Community posts or Circle data removed from our servers, reach out using the contact details below.
